Love Letter #4 ~ Spend Like a Millionaire

Dear Self,

I see many messages across social media nudging me to cut back on spending.  People share many ways they plan to reduce their spending during the year.  For example, some are no longer spending money on fancy coffee, meal delivery, or luxury purchases.  Others provide a look into their “frugal spending habits.”  In spite of the plethora of advice, I decided that I am not jumping on the cut-back-on-spending bandwagon.  Instead, I’m going to spend like a millionaire.

My First Million

I’m going to start by spending millions of seconds studying the patterns of nature, absorbing the sunshine and feeling the rain.  Like a millionaire, I’m going to spend an astronomical amount of time filling my lungs with as much fresh air as they can hold.  I’m going to spend time in my backyard minding my garden, wiggling my toes in the grass, and feeling the earth prickle the soles of my feet.   I look forward to hearing the sweet tweeting of birds, seeing multicolored bouquets on display in my neighbors’ front yard, and observing designer hummingbirds and butterflies in flight.

On to the Next Million

As I spend like a millionaire, I’m going to devote millions of minutes to exercising my body.  Like my four-legged fur baby, I’m going to start each day with a long stretch.  I’m going to spend many minutes keeping my body in motion:  walking, cycling, and maybe even a little running.  Spending thousands of minutes keeping my body moving will help me ward off illness and keep my systems functioning properly.   My energy level will remain steady and the need for medication will be minimized.

Spending it All

After enjoying a large chunk of my allotment in nature absorbing that good old vitamin D and moving my body, I’m going to spend millions of hours laughing with family and friends.  Backyard celebrations, picnics, movie nights and teatime will be my default activities.   I love the vibes we share when we are together, and like a millionaire I want to spend as much time as I can with them for as long as I am able.

So, I’m ignoring the trend to cut back on spending.  I’m going to spend like a millionaire, enjoying millions of seconds, minutes, and hours in nature, working on myself, and with family and friends.

Lovingly,

Self
