Love Letter #11 ~ Everyone Has a Gift

Dear Self,

Everyone has gift.  The gift might be a natural talent, like singing or drawing.  The gift may be something honed so well that people know them for their skill.  Or, they may not even realize they a gift, but others recognize their ability.  Everyone’s gift is unique to them because they are one of a kind.

Now is the time of year that many people think about giving gifts to family and friends, and donations to support organizations that are dear to their heart.  When people give, the natural ebb and flow of the universe is for them to receive something in return.  When they give freely with good intentions, they will be rewarded positively in return.

Now is the time to be strategic.  If money was not a concern, many would love to shower luxurious gifts on family and friends.  But realistically, many cannot afford to spend lavishly.  That’s where their own special gift comes into play.

For instance, as a young girl, my mom taught me how to sew, crochet, and cook.  As I grew older, I learned to make jewelry and paint.  My love of reading sparked my interest in creating books.  Which brings me to thinking strategically.  Instead of buying gifts, what can I create and give away using the skills I have?

I could make a gift certificate that is good for one journal, a crocheted beanie, maybe even breakfast at my house.  Although these ideas have material costs, I already have the components on hand.  The things I could create extend as far as my imagination.  All I have to do is be still and think what my recipient would enjoy.

Gifts do not have to be purchased.  Use skill and imagination to create something.   Or, gift an hour of time.   After all, it’s not the gift, but the thought that counts.

Fondly,

Self
